Dear Parents

The Rainbow Games are taking place in school as I write and I’m imagining you all at home taking part in your rainbow activities and having fun as well.  It has been a positive that lockdown has encouraged so many of us to take exercise and it has us outside hiking or on our bikes – the weather has certainly helped.

What a load of rubbish!

What hasn’t been lovely is driving in to school alongside Abington Park and seeing a huge amount of litter left in the park and along the length of the road.  I don’t want our children to live in an environment like that so Mrs Atlas has written to the local Friends of Abington Park to say we would like to join them on their clean up and education campaign.

Welcome back

In the last week of term, beginning 13 July, we would like to welcome back those year groups that have not been in school yet.  This will be for an hour to have a socially distanced ‘meet and greet’ with their new teacher and classmates and if possible say hello to their current class teacher at the end.  More details to follow next week.

You will shortly receive a form via ParentMail to ask whether you would like to send your child into school for this session.  If your child is in a key worker bubble, you will not need to complete the form.

End of year

At this time of year, families often send the staff that have looked after their children a gift of some kind; however, this can be stressful for some families and we understand that after lockdown there may be added pressures for many.

This year we would like to issue the children with a challenge instead.  In line with the work on ‘Integrity’, which we explained as ‘doing the right thing, even when no-one is watching,’ they could carry out a kind action to help someone and this in itself would be a wonderful gift.

We have valued and appreciated your messages of support over the last few months, which have given us strength and encouragement throughout lockdown.  Thank you.

Have a good weekend.

Alison Harvey
