Dear Parents

The weeks are flying by and our new children in Early Years have settled well into their classes.  There are also lots of new faces in our Nursery and it was a treat to read to them a story about a Panda when they visited the library this morning. They all sat and listened beautifully.

Parking

We are only a couple of weeks into the new term and, unfortunately, we have already received a number of parking complaints.

Can we remind a small number of parents to park carefully in the local area and with consideration for the local residents.  We ask that people only park on the school side of Milverton Crescent and not on the crossing point.  Can we also ask you not to park on the corners of roads or on the pavements.

Please be aware that there is no parking allowed on the school grounds (this includes the turning circle) unless you have a valid blue badge.  There is ample parking available on Abington Park Crescent, so please Park ‘n’ Stride.  Thank you.

The Romans

The children in Y3 had a brilliant day with our Roman visitor this week, which was an exciting start to their theme this term.

All the themes are on the website for you to have a look at under the blog drop down for each year group.

Hotshots basketball clubs

Andy from Hotshots ran fun taster sessions for all the children from Y2 upwards on Wednesday and today they have collected a large number of application forms for the club.

Goodbye

Jennie McMenzie, who worked at Bridgewater for many years as a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) and worked with many of our children, left after the summer to support her family.  We would like to thank her and we wish her well for the future.

Summer Reading Challenge

It’s great to see some 'Summer Reading Challenge' certificates coming into school.

During a visit to Weston Favell Library they informed us that they are continuing the challenge for another couple of weeks, so if you didn’t quite make the deadline - keep going!  Don’t forget that if you have registered at the Weston Favell Library and completed the challenge you will receive a free ‘Bambino Gallones’ ice-cream.

Keep reading!  Miss Paine & Miss Conroy

Prospective Parents

We have started showing prospective parents around school this week.  If you know anyone who may like to come to Bridgewater let them know so that they can call the office to book a tour!

I hope you enjoy the heatwave that we’ve been promised this weekend.

Alison Harvey
