The Poor Children!

As we start our investigations into the Victorians, we have prepared a long list of different ideas which we put together in a group discussion. These ideas will all be explored in more detail over the next two weeks. In particular, the children were really interested in how the Victorians dealt with poverty and homelessness. This is because many of our children have watched television programmes which are set in that time and they are interested in understanding why they saw so much poverty and disease but at the same time they saw so many people who obviously had a lot more wealth. This has made the children think hard about how lucky they are now in comparison to how children were in those days.

Here is a photo album which shows some of our children's research into the Victorians with specific focus upon the social and economic background of the children.
