Dear Parents

Cross Country Championship

We are so lucky to have Abington Park next door, which looked absolutely stunning in its autumnal glory for the muddy Cross Country Championships.  All the children were very determined on what was a very hilly course! Thank you Miss Conroy and Mrs Cressey, our running coaches, for taking the children to Abington Park and writing the following report:

On Wednesday afternoon, a number of children from Year 4-6 took part in a cross country competition at Abington Park. Everybody did Bridgewater proud - they completed the course with positivity and resilience.  Adults noted how well our pupils did at supporting and cheering each other on. Some results to note are: Millie in Y5 who came 1st in her race! Additionally, Maddie (Y4), Freya (Y4), Kilian (Y4), Leon (Y5), Nellie (Y5) who all finished within the top 15 out of a field of over 100 participants. Well done everybody!

Also, a special mention to George in Y4 who stopped to pick up a child who had fallen from another school.

Remembrance

The children assembled on the playground at 11am on 11th November and stood still for two minutes reflecting on the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for us in war. They sang, ‘We Will Remember’ and ‘Make Me a Channel of Your Peace’ beautifully.  Mrs White read us some poems and led the assembly.  It was a poignant and memorable occasion where we appreciated all being together as a community.   I have to say the Nursery children behaved impeccably.

Thank you, Mrs Tasher for the lovely remembrance display in the library and well done Out of School club for your eye-catching work.

Year 4 Healthy Cooks

Y4 have been honing their skills, chopping a variety of vegetables for healthy stir fry’s this week.  They are making me feel hungry as they are in The STEM room and I can smell the delicious aromas from my office!

TLCs

Don’t forget to log in for your TLCs that are happening next Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th November between 3.30pm and 6pm.  Your child’s class teacher is also doing one daytime session for those parents who cannot attend on the 17th & 18th. Some daytime sessions have already taken place and some are happening over the next two weeks. Bookings for the main TLC’s taking place on 17th & 18th November close on Monday 15th November at 4pm.

If you are struggling to use the booking system please call the office for support.

Anti-Bullying Week

Next week is Anti-Bullying Week, which is focused on integrity in the Upper Phase and empathy in the Middle and Lower Phase. The theme is ‘One Kind Word’ where kindness fuels kindness.

Y3 Writers

We learnt this week that our Y3 writers are really improving their skills after lockdown and we are delighted at their attitude and creativity.   All our year groups are progressing well, however it was Y3s turn to have their work moderated nationally and they did very well against the national picture.  Well done all the team.

Have a good weekend

Mrs Alison Harvey
