Dear Parents

Surprise Panto

The children laughed continuously during the special panto this morning where we saw some familiar people in a different role! Thank you to all our amazing Bridgewater staff who have maintained standards whilst providing exciting, engaging activities and nurture this term.

This Week’s Events

It’s been another busy week with a beautiful Year 6 soiree where the children demonstrated their maturity and high standards.  We were really impressed with their poignant WW1 home learning exhibition which demonstrates their compassion and thoughtfulness.

Year 3 performed their Carol Service in the church with quality singing and acting which sounded beautiful in the magnificent surroundings of the church of St Peter and St Paul and we thank Rev. Jun and Reverend Tracey for their warm welcome.

The nursery children filled us with joy with their Christmas songs and nativity.  They looked lovely in their costumes for their first nativity and there were some delightful moments that will stay in our memories.

The children were treated to a pantomime of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ this week and we thank the Hobgoblin Theatre company for a great show.

Santa turned up yesterday, yes … the real one!  He said hello to all the children to great excitement especially for our younger pupils.

The Reception Team invited in all the families for a morning of Christmas activities to showcase physical development yesterday.  All the children, parents and grandparents threw themselves into the experience.

Year 5 had a fresh and frosty time around the fire pit learning about materials for science and managed to cook some smores which they put on sticks that they had whittled themselves.

A group of Year 6 children took part in Level 3 Bikeability on Tuesday braving the sub-zero temperatures to complete the course.

Scarlet Fever and Strep A

There have been a small number of suspected cases of Scarlet Fever and Strep A and one confirmed case.  Please continue to be mindful of early symptoms during the holiday that include sore throat, headache, fever, nausea and vomiting. After 12 to 48 hours, a characteristic red, pinhead rash develops, typically first appearing on the chest and stomach, then rapidly spreading to other parts of the body, and giving the skin a sandpaper-like texture. Advice from the UK Health Security Agency is that parents should trust their judgement when their child is unwell and if their child seriously deteriorates to contact their GP or call 111 for advice. We wish you happy healthy holidays.

Clothing Bin

We now have our clothing bin in the corner of the drop off circle, that parents can access during school hours and all funds will be go towards the Friends who purchase lovely things to benefit Bridgewater children.

Governor Elections

Governor elections are now live, you should have received an email with your voting number and votes can be placed up until 11th January.

Goodbyes and Welcomes

We say goodbye, thank you and best wishes to Mrs Marr in Year 4 who is returning to work in a secondary school and Mrs Brickwood in Reception, who is going to work with community gardening projects.

We are also sad to say goodbye to Christine who has flourished as a chef at Bridgewater but we are very pleased for her as she is moving on to lead her own kitchen.

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Sophie McNair in the role of Assistant Headteacher next term.  James Green will be joining as a teacher in Year 4 and Mrs Summers will be joining the Early Years Team.

January Start Date

We look forward to welcoming you back on Wednesday 4th January 2023.

Have a lovely holiday with your families and we wish you all a Happy New Year.

Mrs Alison Harvey
