Dear Parents

Friends of Bridgewater Primary AGM Next Week

A reminder that the Friends' AGM will be held at the school next Tuesday 28th March, 6pm-8pm. The Friends do a fantastic job of supporting the school by holding events and raising funds - giving up time and energy despite juggling jobs, families and other commitments. They are always in need of volunteers, so please do consider joining them on Tuesday to celebrate their achievements, find out about their exciting line-up of events for the coming year, and find out how you could be involved!

Running in Car park and Turning Circle

Please supervise children carefully near the roads and school car park at drop off and pick up times.  Last week we had an incident when children ran off through the car park after family breakfast.  We also had an incident where a teacher witnessed such a dangerous incident that he thought the child had been hit in the drop off zone.   The small child had run off spontaneously without thinking or being aware of the dangers. We will emphasise road safety next week in the classes and some have been out to practice already.

Year 3 and Year 4 Gymnasts

We had another successful Pacesetters gymnastics competition at Bridgewater where our gymnasts showed they had improved their skills well, which enabled them to come in second place.  Well done for working so hard on your bench, balance and floor work with Emma.

Our Reading Ambassadors

Thank you to the reading ambassadors who met this week and awarded trophies to the classes which had logged the most reads in each year group.

The classes with the most reads for the week beginning 13th March 23 was as follows:

Year 6- Warhol

Year 5- Mazari

Year 4- Fraser

Year 3- Hockney

Year 2- Klimt

Year 1- Ringgold

Reception- Van Gogh

The ambassadors were really keen to get back to their classes and encourage their friends to get reading more! It will be interesting if we see an increase next week.

Morris Dancing and Indian Dancing

Year 4 have had an active week, enjoying their Morris Dancing workshop with Rebecca.  They were all in sync and it looked like great fun dancing with their scarves.  Year 2 also enjoyed an Indian Dance workshop where they learnt Bollywood dancing and Bhangra dancing. The children were able to wear traditional Indian outfits for the dance.

Have a good weekend

Alison Harvey
