Dear Parents

Happy’s Circus

A big thank you to Happy’s Circus and the Friends of Bridgewater for organising the spectacular circus event.  The red and yellow striped tent went up on the field yesterday and it all became a reality.  It was a beautiful evening and the crowds gathered around the tempting food vans creating a lovely atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. It was fantastic to hear the children’s laughter and squeals of delight as they watched the variety of acts. The six hundred people in the tent had a great time and were completely absorbed, their faces full of awe.   Thank you for all the months of hard work – it was really appreciated and a wonderful experience.

Reminders:

Please don’t put fruit juice in the children’s water bottles.  We advocate water in our bottles at Bridgewater because there is a national campaign to try and improve the dental health of our children’s teeth. Similarly, please do not put sweets in lunch boxes but save them for a special treat out of school.

We are seeing more earrings in school and we want to reiterate that they are not part of our school uniform.  They must not be worn in school. If ears have been recently pierced, please cover with plasters until they can be removed during school times.

Blue plain hairbands are fine but please save the super-sized bows for the weekends and similarly the coloured braids should not be worn in school.

They are all lovely treats that the children can enjoy at the weekends and in the holidays.

Osmington Bay

The Year 6 children, myself and several staff are off to Osmington Bay next week for the residential.  The children always have a wonderful time trying new activities and challenges whatever the weather! One of our staff who is also a parent came on the trip last year and commented that she hadn’t realised how hard the staff work 24/7, so a big thank you to all the staff who are supporting the children.

Please see Mrs Troop (Deputy Head), Mrs Atlas (School Business Manager) or Mrs McNair (Assistant Head Teacher) if you need to speak to a Senior Leader.

Year 3 Roman Day

Year 3 were inspired by Dan from ‘Portals of the Past’, who visited them in full Roman regalia to teach them about that time period.  He is incredibly knowledgeable and the children were fully engaged as Dan shared Roman artefacts and became engrossed in the activities.

Abington Park

Year 5 Basquiat and Mazari have been to Abington Park this week and are making use of our fantastic local resources to develop their mapping skills linked to geography. Sadly 5 Gaudi were thwarted by the dreadful weather and will be going in the next couple of weeks. Year 4 went to the museum and learnt about the Ancient Egyptians for their history learning.

Reception

We have enjoyed meeting our Reception Group B, who have settled in well and have enjoyed exploring their new school this week.

Have a lovely weekend

Alison Harvey
