Dear Parents

Netball Stars

Congratulations to the netball team yesterday who came 6th in the County Finals.  There were 15 schools, and the children did really well rotating positions and working together as a team. Our sports coaches were very proud of them.

Roller Skating

Another group of children in Year 6 went roller skating on Tuesday. They all tried really hard, helping each other out and markedly improved their skills of balance and coordination by the end of the day.

Planting in the Park

Ten children went to the community garden in Abington Park with Mrs Bentley and Miss Price and planted cosmos seeds, weeding and planting our section of the garden and they also decorated the fence.  Have a look when you are next in the park to check how well they are growing.

The Living Eggs

Reception classes have had an exciting week watching duckling eggs hatch.  The whole school was able to come quietly to the STEM room to observe their behaviours over Thursday and Friday and were enchanted. We would like to share that The Living Eggs company have an ethical approach and rehome our new feathery friends happily.

PSCO Visit to Reception

Steve, Rose and Georgia, our local PCSO’s came to visit the Reception classes on Wednesday. The children were excited to visit the vehicles (including the motor bike) and hear about how the police support children in the community and help keep them safe. Steve also explained to the children changes in the uniform and technology.

Protected Characteristics

Year 5 & 6 met with a mentor called Joseph Powell this week who enabled them to think and reflect about protected characteristics from different perceptions and experiences.  It was a valuable session for the children.

Polling Station

Next week, the local council are using our Sports Studio as a Polling Station.  Please be reassured that plans and risk assessments are in place to minimise disruption and keep everyone safe. Children are expected to attend school as usual, but can we ask that you park safely away from the site to facilitate access for blue badge holders.

Friends AGM

The Friends are having their AGM at school on Tuesday 30th April at 6pm. All are welcome to attend.

Have a lovely weekend

Alison Harvey
