Dear Parents
The children have settled back into school well after the half term break.
D Day Landings
On Thursday afternoon we had a whole school assembly to commemorate 80 years since the D Day Landings. The children were respectful and thoughtful, and it was lovely to hear them sing, ‘We Will Remember’ beautifully, especially the older children.
Staff changes for September
We are delighted to be able to share that Miss Sheikh will be joining the team at Bridgewater again next year.
We wish Mrs Ofori-Attah well as she moves on to an exciting new opportunity in one of our local cluster schools … so we will still be able to catch up with her and say hello.
Carnival
After two days preparing eye catching decorations for the Bridgewater float the Carnival Team, led by Mrs Copeman are ready to parade around the streets of Northampton tomorrow. We will be leaving the Racecourse at 2pm and hope to see lots of our friends from Bridgewater come out and give us a wave. It is very special to be part of the Northampton Town Carnival with a variety of groups participating, making it an entertaining spectacle. It is a joyful event that brings the whole Northampton Town community together thanks to the efforts of Morcea Walker who coordinates everything with expertise.
Writing Around Bridgewater
This week we have been completing Learning Walks looking at writing across the school. Wow! The children are really challenging themselves and writing interesting, sustained pieces in a variety of genres. They are using some great texts such as, The Windrush Child in Year 6 to The Hairy Toe in Reception. The teachers are teaching with great clarity, noticing, and scaffolding for every learner to complete their writing to a high standard. Great listening, following instructions and creativity everyone.
Everdon Adventures
The first class in Year 3 went to Everdon yesterday and had a great day participating in field work and doing a river study as part of the geography curriculum. Mrs Douglas said that the rangers are so experienced in engaging and immersing the children in the countryside and helping them observe and notice all that is around them. The next two classes will be going soon.
Benham Sports
Miss Peal took a group of year 3,4,5 and 6's on an activity day at Benham yesterday, where they took part in trampoline, archery and circus skills. They had a great time, it's one of the best sports trips Miss Peal has been on!
One of the organisers of the event commented that it was wonderful to see the children flourish in the activities and they were a fantastic representation of our school. Well done!
Year 5 & 6 Rugby Tournament Winners
This morning a team of Year 5 & 6 went to a Rugby Tournament at Old Scouts. The children drew one game and won four games resulting in them winning the tournament.! The children were commended by the Saints staff who said they displayed great Saints Schools Values. The team will now get to progress to the finals at Franklins Gardens. Congratulations and well done!
Year 4 Multiplication Tables Checks (MTC)
Year 4 have been fully concentrating on their National Multiplication Tables Checks online this week. They have been practising hard and are keeping cool when they’re completing them with one class ready to do them on Monday. It’s important that everyone keeps practising their times tables so that they gain greater fluency for their calculations in Maths and this improves their confidence and ability to make connections … and its fun!
Have a great weekend and we might see you pop up at the carnival and give us a wave ?
