Dear Parents
A Busy and Rewarding Term
Our Nursery children have been tending to their garden enthusiastically, where a variety of lovely plants are flourishing. The children can often be seen outside watering and caring for them. In Early Years, pupils have been making the most of the swale — building dens and pond dipping where they discovered lots of insects and wriggly minibeasts in their magnifying jars.
Year 1 have also become fantastic gardeners, learning all about the science of plants. They’ve also been expressing their creativity by delicately representing flowers in their beautiful Artwork. Year 2 have shown excellent behaviour on trips outside school, proudly demonstrating our school values and also being great role models around the school.
Year 3 have continued to impress us with the care they take in their handwriting and presentation — their work really is a joy to see. Year 4 had an exciting time on their residential trip to the Frontier Centre, building independence and teamwork. Year 5 have made a confident start to their swimming lessons, developing an important life skill with enthusiasm and focus.
Finally, Year 6 faced their SATs with great resilience and determination — we’re very proud of the way that they approached the challenge. Yesterday, it was lovely to see them making new friends confidently during their transition day to secondary school. Their behaviour and good manners were also complimented by a teacher from another school who had been working with the groups all day.
Well done to everyone for such a positive and productive term!
Parent / School Communication
We would like to kindly remind you that all communication with the school, including matters related to SEND, should be sent between 8:30am and 5:00pm, during school hours. This ensures that staff are available to respond effectively and within a reasonable timeframe.
We are proud to support a large and diverse SEND cohort and are committed to working rigorously and fairly in the best interests of all children as Ofsted recognised. Our team follows school policies and procedures carefully, and we strive to provide a consistent and equitable experience for every student.
At times, we work closely with external agencies who may have different approaches or timelines. Please be assured that our priority is always to support your child’s needs as effectively as we can.
We understand that SEND matters can be a source of concern, and we value your cooperation and will do the utmost to provide the best support for your child at all times.
Thank you for your continued support.
Join Us for Our Next Inclusion Coffee Morning!
We’re pleased to welcome SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service) to our next Inclusion Coffee Morning, taking place on the first Tuesday, 3rd June, after half term.
SENDIASS is a charity that offers free, impartial, and confidential support to parents, carers, and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). They provide valuable information about rights, entitlements, and how to navigate the SEND process.
As always, everyone is welcome.
Walk to School Week
Miss Range and The School Council say a big well done to everyone who has walked, scooted, biked or parked at Abington Park and walked into school this week. It has been good for our fitness, health and wellbeing as well as being better for the environment.
Well done to 1 Goldsworthy and 3 Ali who had the biggest improvement in children walking to school this week.
Have a lovely week
Alison Harvey
