Dear Parents

Most of the children are starting to prepare for Christmas around the school and its lovely to see them enjoying being part of a performance.

Performances

We are aware that cases of Covid-19 are picking up around the country and today we have six cases from different classes across the school. Children who have tested positive are learning at home and we wish them and their families a swift recovery.

To reduce the risk of cases increasing and to enable us to go ahead with the performances we are asking for your support and cooperation. We are taking caution by allowing two family members to attend performances to keep the numbers down and we also require people attending to wear masks unless they are otherwise exempt.

We understand it may be difficult for some parents to attend in the day, however, we have always done our performances within the school day except, the Y3 church performance, as this works well with the ages of our children.

Road Safety

Thank you to Harry in Y5, who stopped me on the gate to share his concern after a child had stepped out into the road without looking in front of a passing car.  There was also a close shave when a child got out of their car onto the road and not onto the pavement this week.   Please be careful to always direct the children to get out on to the pavement and wait safely if you don’t already do so.

Chair of the Local Residents Association

It was lovely to welcome Graham Tennant from the Local Resident’s Association and Mary Kay, our Vice Chair of Governors in to school this morning.  Graham was interested in the STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Maths) room as he has an engineering past.  We would like to encourage any of our local residents who may have a spare hour or two to volunteer and come into school to support and work with our children.  You could hear them read or share your sewing or gardening skills etc.  All our volunteers require a DBS check which Mrs Atlas would organise for you.

Book Donation

Thank you to the Wooldridge family who generously donated some lovely animal books to the library this week which Mrs Tasher is delighted to register and get on the bookshelves for all the children to enjoy.

Children in Need

Thank you for your generous donations to Children in Need which amounted to £433.65.

Hamza

Hamza in Y3 brought me a special piece of artwork which has made my day special.  You can see it on Twitter where you will see great detail, excellent colour blending and a very close likeness in his self-portrait.  It is exciting to see the increased level of artistic skill from all our children as Miss Williams has led the development of the art curriculum this year.

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Alison Harvey
