Dear Parents

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

We have had lots of fun today at our Platinum Jubilee Celebration.  We looked a-ma-zing in our Jubilee crowns and enjoyed our delicious Jubilee cupcakes made by our very own Jason, Christine and team!  We had our special assembly and paraded around the grounds and this was followed by an afternoon of games and activities.  Every child nationwide is receiving a beautiful commemorative book for the event.  Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth 2nd as we celebrate 70 years as our queen.

Please don’t forget that the local residents are doing their own celebration that you are all welcome to attend in Milverton Crescent next weekend.

Holidays

Attendance is dipping low, as many families are taking holidays in school time.  This can impact on the children’s friendships and set them back in their learning when they miss gaps in the curriculum.  This may be a result of holidays being transferred during lockdown so please think ahead and book dates in the school holidays next year.

Earrings

Our school uniform states that earrings should not be worn in school. If you have to get them pierced please do so at the beginning of the summer holiday so that they have time to heal and can be taken out on school days.  Thank you.

Smartness

Please can the children wear the appropriate PE kit to school as we don’t want it to become a competition to wear fashion clothing where some children may be at a disadvantage, plus it looks a lot smarter.

Smartwatch Cameras

We would encourage the children to wear watches and tell the time but not smart watches that have built in cameras.  There have been incidents where children have filmed in schools which is against GDPR.  There will be no watches with phones allowed in school. Thank you.

Electric Scooters

Please can we remind you that people are not allowed to use electric scooters legally until they are 18 and they need to acquire a licence. However, we would encourage the children to use scooters that are pushed under their own steam to build fitness and good health.

Year 5 – Abington Bowls Club

A group of Y5 children visited the Abington Bowls Club this lunchtime and learnt that the club is 100 years old.  They had a go and really enjoyed learning a new skill. Abington Bowls Club have an open day this weekend where the community are invited to visit and try bowling.  Additional details will be sent via ParentMail with our Newsletter.

It has been a beautiful sunny day for our celebrations.

Have a great holiday

Mrs Alison Harvey
