Dear Parents

Northampton Town Carnival

What an amazing day, thanks to the whole community for pulling together; staff, parents, governors and families who came to cheer us on.  The sun shone and everyone cheered, waved and blew whistles.  We were accompanied on the walk by two superheroes from the hospital who were thankful that we were raising funds for the new outside play area at the hospital.  Everyone behind the scenes worked hard to make it a great day and the float looked fantastic, expertly driven through Northampton Town by Danny our lovely driver.  Thank you to everyone; Miss Gillett and Miss Stagg who coordinated the event, Mrs Douglas, Miss Williams, many staff, families and friends.  By the way we won 1st place for the best children’s float ?

Northampton Museum

Y1 and Y2 had a fascinating time last week at the Northampton Museum and had a good look around.  They were excited to find Hokusai paintings as the children had studied his wave pictures.  They found out about the history of Northampton, looked in detail at a model of Northampton castle and enjoyed a shoe workshop. They got to try on some Star Wars items in the toy exhibition and they also really had fun on the bus ride as well!

Year 3 Everdon Trip

3 Hudson and 3 Hockney in Y3 have visited Everdon Field Centre now and had some lovely weather for doing their River Study.  The Everdon staff were very informative and made sure the children got the most from their river dipping activity. 3 Thomas will be going on Tuesday 21st June – fingers crossed that the weather is kind to them too!

Year 4 & 5 Table Cricket Competition

A group of our Year 4 and 5 children were lucky enough to attend a Table Cricket Competition at the Northants Cricket Ground on Monday. They had matches against other schools and not only represented Bridgewater impeccably but worked really well as a team. They also had a tour of the ground which was a highlight.

Year 4 Times Tables Tests

Well done to the Year 4 children who have been practising their tables really hard and completed their online tests this week in the heat!

Sports Day

The children have had excellent weather for their Sports Days and thank you to the Young Leaders who explained clearly what the children had to do and supported them to do their best.  Thank you to Miss Baxter, Miss Holmes, Mrs Breakwell and the team for ensuring the days were well planned and ran smoothly.  We had over 1000 visitors who enjoyed the events and we thank you for your lovely feedback.  We would have liked to provide drinks and will do so next year, however the Friends needed a few more volunteers for this to take place – you are all welcomed warmly to join the Friends team and especially for the Summer Fair coming up soon!

Art Exhibition

What a beautiful display of children’s work from across the school and to such a high level of skill.  Well done children and staff, the Queen would be very pleased I’m sure.  Once again thank you to all our visitors to the exhibition for their positive comments and support.

Have a great weekend

Mrs Alison Harvey
