Fire Brigade visit.
The children were excited to welcome a visit from the fire brigade!
We began the day with a 'Sparkle and Shine' theme. All the children dressed in their brightest and sparkly coloured clothes.
Then we met Mrs Wise around the fire pit to talk about the sights, sounds and smells of a bonfire. We explored new vocabulary to describe what they could see, smell and hear.
In our classrooms we made sparklers and went under the writing tables to practise our letters and write onomatopoeic firework sounds.
Finally we welcomed a visit from the Blue Watch fire brigade who brought along Zeus, their huge fire engine!
They showed us all the working parts of the engine including the 27m ladder, giant car-cutting scissors and of course the hose!
The children, and teachers, had a fantastic time squirting water from the hose across the school car park!
Afterwards, fire fighters Tom and Kirk gave us a fire safety talk about how to keep safe during bonfire night and what to do if your clothes catch fire. We thank them for their time and informative visit.
Don't forget children: Stop, drop and roll!
