Story Telling Week
This week at Bridgewater has been story telling week. The children were immersed in story telling opportunities and built up their confidence in their ability to tell a story.
This week in English, the children were verbally innovating and creating their own stories, and had the opportunity to share these with their own class or their twinned class. We discussed how to keep an audience engaged when story telling - alter your facial expression, use body language and actions, use entertaining and varied voices, and maintain eye contact with your audience.
On Tuesday, the children enjoyed a visit from a professional story teller, who told the story of the hare and tortoise by asking the children to rap!
We have all also been lucky enough to use the story telling chair, where the children enjoyed creating stories on the spot, sharing stories they already knew, and entertaining their friends.
We hope that the children now feel more confident in their abilities to tell stories and can share stories with you at home.
