Something exciting is happening during our snack times in Early Years!
Three Mystery Boxes appered in our classrooms!
They sparked the children's interest about what could be inside. We had some interesting guesses; from an elf to a magic spell.
Finally all was revealed... it was a spider! (Not a real one) We decided to share our ideas and put together all the facts we knew about spiders from where they live, what they eat and what they look like.
This is called building schema. It is the act of linking the information in our brains, giving it context and organizing it into a framework representing aspects of the world around us. It also gives us the opportunity to talk about things we know, ask questions about what we don't know and to listen to and process what others are saying, all whilst we are our enjoying our snacks.
What will be in the Mystery Box this week?
