Year 6
Welcome to Year 6
In Year 6, we have three classes: 6 Warhol, 6 Banksy and 6 Vasarely. In 6 Warhol, the class teacher is Miss Holmes. In 6 Banksy, the class teachers are Miss Brown & Mrs Redden. In 6 Vasarely, the class teachers are Mrs Hallett and Mrs Spatcher. In addition, we are fortunate to have Mr Kennedy (HLTA) & Miss Morley (HLTA), Miss Peal, Mrs Masood, Miss Ottaway & Miss Tate who will support across Year 6.
In Year 6, we strive to meet the end of Key Stage 2 expectations and prepare the children for their SATs in a supportive environment. We try to instil independence in the children, as well as develop their resilience and the skills they will need to prepare them for Secondary School and beyond.

In Year 6, we welcomed Mr Shannon in to 'kick start' our science week. He spoke to the year group about his job as a civil engineer and highlighted how important science is in his work. He had many interesting facts to share and the children asked lots of questions.
He then set the children a challenge in the classrooms - who could build the highest spaghetti tower? They only had 20 strands of spaghetti and 1m of tape and the towers had to be strong enough to hold a giant marshmallow. The children worked in groups and showed great teamwork and perseverance.
The winning tower was from Banksy and measured 26.5cm tall!
