Writing a List.

This week in Early Years we have been looking at the book, ‘The Scarecrows’ Wedding,’ by Julia Donaldson.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the story in which two scarecrows meet and fall in love. They decide to write a list of the things they need for the wedding.

This provided a lovely opportunity for the children to explore how to write a list.

We took our literacy lesson into the role play areas to inspire the children to recall the items from the story and to have a go at writing a list for the scarecrows.

The children were ‘Have a Go Heroes,’ and created their lists using words and pictures.

The children made links and recalled how their grown ups at home and teachers at school often write lists to help them remember things.

We all agreed that lists are very useful indeed and talked about the different kinds of lists such as a shopping list, a list for a party or a To Do list.

What kind of list have you written recently?
