On Friday the whole school community came together to hold our Remembrance Service.
We welcomed special guests Wynn Williams from CSALT, Anne Quinn from the local church of St Peter and St Paul and Vaughn Glynn from the Royal British Legion and over 1000 people gathered together on the playground. We watched children from each year group recite poems, dance and sing songs.
Early Years stood quietly and respectfully until it was their turn to recite their Poppy Poem.
It was rather chilly and windy but we were united in showing our respect for the soldiers who fought for us.
Some of us wore Poppies from home, from charities and poppy stickers.
To mark the occasion, the Early Years children sewed buttons onto felt poppies with Nanny Margaret's help.
When all 90 were complete, they became part of a collaborative project for displays in the Ignite hall and also the Early Years Unit.
It was a lovely service and the teachers were so proud of the Early Years children for reciting their poem in lovely big voices and supporting the older children by watching so patiently and listening respectfully.
