Year 6
Welcome to Year 6
In Year 6, we have three classes: 6 Warhol, 6 Banksy and 6 Vasarely. In 6 Warhol, the class teacher is Miss Holmes. In 6 Banksy, the class teacher is Mr Lagdon. In 6 Vasarely, the class teachers are Mrs Hallett and Mrs Spatcher. In addition, we are fortunate to have Mr Kennedy (HLTA), Miss Peal and Mrs Masood who will support across Year 6.
In Year 6, we strive to meet the end of Key Stage 2 expectations and prepare the children for their SATs in a supportive environment. We try to instil independence in the children, as well as develop their resilience and the skills they will need to prepare them for Secondary School and beyond.

Helping at Home
In Year 6, the children are set weekly spellings on a Monday which are tested on a Friday; on Thursday we also set an additional piece of home learning which is due in the following Tuesday. The children have been issued with a Homework Diary to help them manage their time effectively in preparation for secondary school. These need to be signed by a parent/carer each week and handed in every Wednesday to be signed by their class teacher. In addition to this, please continue to support your child with their reading by regularly reading to them, listening to them read and asking them questions about their reading. We encourage them to record this in the homework diary too.
Our Year 6 PE lesson is on a Wednesday afternoon so please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on this day.
