Science Week 11th-15th March 2024

In Science Week this year, the year 3 children were surprised to find out exactly how much sugar is in a variety of food and drinks. We were visited by a dentist who explained how sugary snacks can affect your teeth and recommended some tooth friendly alternatives.

In the science live lesson, the children had the opportunity to follow a farm vet as she visited a farm and gained an insight into her job role. They learnt about how a vet checks the health of a cow, modern technology that some farmers use to monitor the health of their cows and much more.

Linking with the Science Week theme of time, the children learnt about reaction times and enjoyed carrying out a science experiment to test their own reaction times. They then discussed their results and also considered whether factors such as age, dominant versus non-dominant hand etc would affect their reaction times.
