The children in Reception were overjoyed to receive a visit from some local firefighters who spent the whole morning them. During this time the children received an excellent talk about the important job that firefighters do, which is not only putting out fires but also cutting people out of cars following accidents, assisting people stuck in floods, providing first aid and rescuing the odd animal in need! Wewere amazed to hear about the horse stuck on a roof!

The firefighters talked about the special features of their uniform and how it protects them whilst fighting fires. Finally, the children visited the fire engine to see some of the specialist tools on board. They even had the opportunity to sit inside the fire engine and to operate the water hose!
The firefighters spoke about the importance of checking our smoke alarms once a month at home and asked all of the children to ask their parents to do this!

A huge thank you to the firefighters for giving up their time to speak to us in school and for the amazing job that they do to help us and our community!
