Reading Information Evening

It was lovely to welcome our Reception parents back into school on Thursday evening for our 'Reading Information Evening.' We had a super turn out of parents all keen to support the development of their children's reading skills and love of reading.

During the evening we were able to share how we teach reading and develop the children's life long love of books here at Bridgewater Primary. We discussed the importance of our daily phonic sessions in teaching the children the skills they need to become confident readers and the importance of developing the children's 'reading miles' by sharing lots of wonderful books and stories to enhance the children's vocabulary and language development.

We were particularly impressed with the parent participation during our live phonic session. Parents recalled the letter/sound correspondences brilliantly as they were provided with an insight into how we teach phonics.

Throughout the session parents were offered advice on how they can support their child's reading development at home and were provided with a support pack including their child's first reading book, which the children were very excited to receive to begin sharing what they they have learnt so far!

Thank you for your support and happy reading!
