Last week the children learnt how to make pancakes in celebration of Shrove Tuesday a day celebrated in the Christian calendar.
As part of their learning the children enjoyed the story 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes' which sees a wolf asking his neighbours to help him make his pancakes. Unfortunately, nobody is willing to help poor Mr Wolf, so he has to make them all by himself!
Luckily the children in the Reception Classes are kind and worked together as a team to make the most delicious pancakes to share! The children recalled the three ingredients needed to make the pancakes... eggs, flour and milk and took it in turns to crack, beat and whisk the eggs with the flour and milk to make the batter. Once ready the pancakes were cooked in the pan whilst the children observed the changes as the batter turned from a liquid to a solid once added to the heat.
Then it was time for the best bit, choosing the topping... sugar, lemon, jam or golden syrup, before rolling it up to enjoy! Delicious! Not a single pancake went to waste and all the children were keen to cook more at home!
