After coming back from the half term holiday our main focus has been 'Remembrance.' We have been using our creative skills to make poppies using different mediums. We've also been using play dough to practice our fine motor skills whilst making poppies!

We have looked at lots of images for Remembrance Day as well as talking about the loss of our soldiers and animals at times of conflict. The children were interested in the fields of poppies as they were beautiful and bright. To further their interest we created a collaborate mural, this included purple poppies to repersent the animals. We used sponges and paint to print the flowers and used tissue paper and material to collage the grass. You can find the mural in the blue room window.

As the week continued we started to prepare for the Remembrance Day Assembly. We made poppies using red card, tissue paper to add texture and green lollipop sticks as the stem. We also practiced our threading skills, using hole punches around the edge of the poppy and then red wool to thread inbetween the holes to represent the flower. We enjoyed taking these down to assembly to show the rest of the school.
