Dear Parents,
Year 6 Residential
What an exciting week Year 6 have had at Osmington Bay. We can’t wait to hear all about their adventures, which we have been enjoying snippets of on X and Facebook. It was lovely to see the big group photo with everyone smiling. A big thank you to Mrs Harvey, Miss Holmes, Mrs Redden, Mr Lagdon, Miss Sheikh, Mr Kennedy, Miss Poole, Miss Lee, Miss Morley and Miss Brack, who have been working hard around the clock to make sure the Year 6 children have a memorable and fun time.
Thank you too to the rest of the Bridgewater staff team who have swapped roles, temporarily moved year groups and supported across the rest of the school to facilitate the residential.
Enthusiastic DT Experience
This week 4 of our Year 4 and Year 5 children spent the day at Kingsthorpe Grove Primary, where they took part in a ‘bake-off’ challenge, cooking in teams with other children from our Cluster schools. They shopped, worked out recipes, baked together and there were some fantastic cakes to show for all their efforts at the end. Thank you to Kingsthorpe Grove Primary School for the warm welcome and also to Mrs Masood for taking and supervising the children for the day.
Harvest
We also welcomed some visitors to school this week. On Wednesday, Father Jun from St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s Church in the Park, shared two assemblies about Harvest with the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children, who thought about what they are grateful for and how they could share with each other and others.
Harvest Donations
Mrs Douglas would like to thank parents and families for their generous donations to the Harvest Collection this year. There is still time if you would like to donate – these kind gifts will be sent to support the ‘Three Pillars - feeding the homeless and supporting the local community in need charity.
Intergenerational Ceramics
On Thursday residents from the St. Christopher’s Care Home joined with some of our Year 1 children to make clay poppies together in the STEM room. There was lots of laughter and chatter and the children were excellent role models, sharing and explaining each step of the process to the visitors. Thank you to Mrs Copeman and Miss Arnold for such a lovely and creative morning.
Phonics Evening
The Year 1 team welcomed parents on Thursday to an informative Phonics Evening - if you were unable to attend and would like more information, please see your child’s class teacher and they will be able to provide you with the information pack.
The Swale – Barclaycard Volunteers
Thank you to the team of 5 volunteers from Barclaycard, who have been amazing today, clearing the bulrushes from the swale to enable the children to use the dipping platforms. They have removed the vegetation that has grown up overtime and the water is back! Many thanks to them for all their hard work!
