Dear Parents

World Book Day

What an amazing week of reading! Our Reading Ambassadors confidently led the whole school assembly on World Book Day, sharing their favourite books with everyone.  On the day itself, classes all came together with their twin classes and everywhere you went the young and older children were reading together - both in the classrooms and outside in the sunshine. The Story Jar exhibition looked incredible. The creativity was up another level this year. The whole community enjoyed looking at the stunning exhibits. There will be some competition winners announced in next Monday’s assembly but quite honestly, they are all winners. Thank you Mr Green, our Reading Lead and Miss Holmes, the English Team Leader.

School Council

The School Council have been busy updating and rewriting our Child Friendly Anti-Bullying Policy with Mrs Redden. They led the assembly on Monday to share the policy and make sure messages were clear. At the end, the school choir led us in singing a song that we learnt for Young Voices.

Cluster Ceramics Event

This week we hosted a cluster school ceramic workshop. Mrs Copeman demonstrated each step on the visualiser, showing the children how to create a daffodil out of clay. They concentrated hard and the results were incredibly realistic. We can’t wait for the children and staff to come back soon once the pieces have been fired, so they can glaze them and proudly display them at home.

West Lodge Farm

Early Years all had a fabulous Day at West Lodge Farm this week where they fed the lambs and saw playful piglets as well as climbing aboard the Barrel Train for a ride. Thank you to all the parents, Mrs Coleman and all the staff who supported the trip and made it so fun and memorable.

Chinese New Year Dinner

On Tuesday, Heather, our TnS chef and team cooked a delicious Chinese meal for us, with fortune cookies to mark Chinese New Year. Mrs D’Agostino and the Language Ambassadors arranged the celebration for us all.

Gymnastics Competition

The fabulous Year 1 & 2 gymnastics children were excellent this morning coming in 4th in the Pacesetters inter-school competition. Well done to Chloe who came first balancing on the bench.

Woodwind Lessons

NMPAT who deliver music lessons here at Bridgewater have availability for Woodwind lessons. If you would like your child to learn a woodwind instrument, please contact NMPAT directly on 01604 637117 or for more details, see the website https://nmpat.co.uk.  Currently woodwind lessons take place on a Friday morning and are available to children from Year 3 upwards.

Traffic Around Bridgewater

I don’t want to have to write this, however I saw some very self-centred behaviour at drop off one day this week. Many people have the same aim of waiting to get the closest spaces making the area congested and unsafe on Milverton Crescent.

The simple safe solution is to arrive earlier or park further away as there is plenty of space. One local resident was very agitated and I completely understand why. Please park with consideration.

Useful Online Safety Updates

When you get a moment, please read the Online Safety Newsletter sent out by Mrs Redden. It contains useful advice, along with helpful links and guidance for parents on smartphones.

Have a lovely weekend
