Dear Parents

Mike Reader, MP, Visit to Bridgewater

Thank you to Mike Reader, our local Northampton South MP, who visited our school community this morning and talked with and listened to several families at the Friday family breakfast. He toured around both buildings and had a chance to speak to Year 6. He will return to lead an assembly for them soon.  We got a chance to talk about the impact of smart devices and SEND and share our viewpoints.

Safety on the Green

There was an accident this morning where a small child was caught in a game on the Green and was hit by a ball. Please talk to the older children about playing sensibly on the Green before they come into school and be aware of smaller children if they are playing ball games. Encourage them to come in as soon as the gates open to start their morning work.

Astro Pi Challenge

Mr Lagdon, Computing Lead, writes: Well done to our KS2 children who entered the Astro Pi Challenge! Over the past few weeks, they’ve worked hard to code Python programs that will display personalised images on an Astro Pi aboard the International Space Station for astronauts to see. Even more exciting, their programs will run in space this May, and in June they’ll receive a certificate showing exactly where the ISS was when their code ran!

Safety Practice

On Monday we carried out a safety practice in the building and all the children behaved perfectly. It was very calm and we carried on as normal afterwards.  The teachers spoke to them about it sensitively and the children took it in their stride.

Year 5 & 6 Gymnastics

Our Year 5 & 6 gymnasts were triumphant this morning at the Pacesetters inter-school competition coming in second place at the Pacesetters tournament, with Ella coming first in the vault. The team gave a very stylish and polished performance.

Happy Eid - Celebrating the End of Ramadan

Miss Sheikh, RE Lead writes: Children across the school have been learning about the significance of Ramadan for Muslims around the world. At Bridgewater, we focused on the shared values that bring us together as a community, and how Ramadan encourages self-reflection and positive change.

Throughout the school, children took part in a range of meaningful activities linked to Ramadan and the celebration of Eid. They explored important values such as thankfulness, commitment, patience, hope, giving, and self-discipline, while reflecting on how these can be applied in their own lives. Pupils also learned about the importance of prayer, fasting, and charity, and considered how these practices are observed by Muslims and, more broadly, in different religions around the world.

As a school, we reflected on the values that Ramadan teaches and how these connect us all through a shared sense of understanding, compassion, and community.

We wish all the families celebrating a very happy Eid.

Have a lovely weekend
